SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. --Stewart's Shops has been recognized as a Times Union Top Workplace in the Capital Region.
“We thank all of our partners for their hard work and dedication. Stewart's employees own nearly 40% of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP; a benefit for anyone working 1,000 hours a year. That's why employees are called ‘partners’," the company said.
Stewart's Shops also offers a number of partner incentives which help build their ownership in the company.
“This Top Workplace honor reinforces Stewart's Shops' efforts to be a stable, successful employer with long-term security for its employees. This recognition measured qualities including company leadership, career opportunities, compensation and benefits,” it said.
Stewart's president, Gary Dake, has also been recognized with a Leadership award based upon survey responses from Stewart's partners.
In other company news, Stewart's Shops recently won first place for The New York State Motor Truck Association Fleet Safety Award in the pickup and delivery division.
“With more than three million miles traveled each year, our drivers are always working to keep our store shelves stocked and our food fresh. And, they have a commitment to safety,” the company said.
Stewart's Shops drivers had no reportable accidents while covering more than 3.327 million miles last year.
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Stewart's Shops operates more than 330 convenience stores in New York and Vermont and has annual sales of approximately $1.6 billion.
